This class is good for someone

 • Complete beginners interested in jewellery making
• Jewellery students wanting to explore a new wax technique
• Experienced jewellers interested in Mitsuro-Hikime
• Artists looking for organic sculptural methods

No prior experience is required.

We are delighted to welcome international guest jewellery artist Anna Zeibig for a special workshop at Ayaka Nishi Jewelry School in New York.

In this rare opportunity, students will be introduced to the fascinating Japanese wax technique Mitsuro-Hikime (蜜蝋引き目) — an ancient process dating back more than 1,300 years.

Unlike conventional carving wax used in lost-wax casting, Mitsuro wax is softened slowly with the warmth of your hands. By pulling, stretching, folding, and twisting the wax, it naturally forms beautiful flowing striations and organic textures. The process is both intuitive and mesmerizing, allowing jewellery artists to create sculptural and expressive forms.

This workshop offers a unique chance to explore a traditional Japanese technique through the expertise of a contemporary jewellery artist who has dedicated years to mastering and developing this rare wax process.

Our international guest tutor, Anna Zeibig, is a former interior designer turned jewellery artist from Budapest. After completing her studies in jewellery in Madrid, Spain, Budapest and Hungary she established Anna Zeibig Jewelry in 2019. Since then, she has showcased her work at various international exhibitions and galleries in Athens, London, Shanghai, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Milan, Torino, Valencia, Budapest, and Madrid.

Anna has become a Mitsuro-Hikime guru, training with a Japanese master and was the first to teach this technique in Hungary. Anna is one of the few jewellery artists in the world who create jewellery using Mitsuro-Hikime. She has developed her own wax recipe and honed her skills in this technique over the past few years. Her extraordinary pieces don’t follow any kind of fashion line, they are rather independent, edgy and uncategorized.
